It's been awhile since I've published some of my illustrations, mostly because I've focused my attention on practicing new sketching skills. I want to produce in the future more advanced and professional sketches for diverse products (digital & physical).
Here are some of my latest works of art:
Childhood cartoon marathon
I made this illustration for a local event in Iasi, Romania. It was about a full day marathon of childhood shows from Cartoon Network: Dexter, Powerpuff Girls, Courage, Ed Edd'n'Eddy etc. It was a real pleasure to re-watch some of the series.
Calin, The Cupcake Warrior Princess
The poster was made for a dear friend of mine as a birthday gift. I wanted to do something special as she was moving to Medellin, Colombia. So without any thought I centralized all her major guilty pleasures: chocolate/sweets, coffee and kittens.
The Super Vegetarian
I made this illustration as a prize for launching our newsletter here at Grapefruit. After random selecting the winner (from her bio... she was a vegetarian), I drew the first version. After a quick feedback, we went with a second version that properly highlighted the Superhero's antagonist: the butcher/cook.
The Astronaut
This set of characters and scenarios were made especially for a pitch presentation. The "space exploration" visual style was selected and I let my imagination go wild. First I drew the astronaut and then the environment around it. It was a fun ride.
Papergirl Poster (Draft)
This poster was a concept made for Papergirl Iasi for their art collection event. It didn't went through the final cut, because the organizers wanted something else, something canvas-like. If only they let me know from the start.
Conclusion
I'll take a break from making illustrations and I will focus more on sketching. I think I'll open a new category in the blog once my skills are polished and once I have something ready to share. So stay tuned 'cause I'm on the right motivational road.
